Part 1 of the #SEObacklinks tutorial series: Type 1 backlinks.
§ 03Show notesVol. XV · № 03
### Type 1 Backlinks: Link Attribute Types
1(a) Do-Follow
Standard links that pass "link juice" / PageRank to the linked page. The default for most organic editorial links.
1(b) No Follow
Links with the rel="nofollow" attribute. Google treats these as hints rather than directives (post-2019 update). Common in user-generated content, comment sections, and some sponsored placements.
1(c) Mention Only
Brand or URL mentions that are not hyperlinked. No direct link equity passed, but valuable for brand awareness and potentially for entity recognition in search algorithms.
1(d) Sponsored / UGC
Links tagged with rel="sponsored" (paid/advertorial placements) or rel="ugc" (user-generated content). Introduced by Google in 2019 alongside the "nofollow as hint" update.
